The AMC Club was founded by Eli Anina (YC ‘25), Moises Zafrani (SSSB ‘25), Sara Wulfsohn (SCW ‘25), and Esther Serfaty (SSSB ‘24) in the fall of 2022 to provide both Beren and Wilf students with the opportunity to watch movies in theaters at minimal cost. Their mission is to make “every day a little brighter, one movie at a time.”
Why is this club important?
Our club’s main focus is to improve the wellbeing of each and every student. Our events allow students from both campuses to interact and enjoy a night out together off campus. These friendships last until they graduate and provide memorable experiences with their peers. Not only is it good for their wellbeing, but their mental health as well.
What inspired you to get involved in/start the club?
The club was started in order to give people something to do during the year. At the start of our YU journey, the events were very basic and didn’t provide enough space for students to meet off campus and create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. So, we did what anyone would do. We got together and created something that has become so magnificent. Hopefully it will continue to provide students with some sort of fun and adventure.
What are some plans you have for this semester/future semesters?
We will hopefully be going to see Captain America: A Brave New World, Disney’s Snow White, Thunderbolts, and a few others in theaters in the coming months.
What is your advice to someone looking to get involved on campus?
Nothing you can do is too small. Every little thing you do leads the next future generations to a better and brighter future. Whether it be by creating an event that just brings people together to eat or to a big screen movie theater, your voice matters. Make sure it’s heard.
Anything else to say about your club?
We definitely could not have had this club made a possibility without the amazing faculty and student government leaders… This has been such an incredible and amazing journey. We look forward to passing this club down to the next generations to come and we appreciate each and every person who has attended our events and made this club so special.
