FINAL UPDATE: The Stern administration has issued the following official statement: Transportation between the Beren campus and Washington heights is remaining the same. Should there by any questions in the future, please feel free to email answers@yu.edu.
UPDATE: Stern has informed the Observer that they are already working on ensuring that there is a way for students to get to school in the mornings. In the meantime, the number of spots will not change until further notice. More information will be disseminated soon.
The 8 a.m. women’s bus leaving from 186th and Amsterdam to 245 Lexington Ave (Stanton Hall) every morning has been cut without warning, reported an inside source.
On an average day, the bus is responsible for shuttling up of 50 women to Stern. Now the bus, officially funded by GPATs, will be replaced with a 15-seater van for GPATs students alone. Stern students who live in the Heights will be responsible for finding their own means of transportation. Shuttles back to Washington Heights only begin running at 5:00pm.
“Yes, this change is harsh enough as it is, but even worse is the manner in which this decision was made,” said one Stern student who lives in the Heights. “No warning, no consultation, no conversation–just cuts.”
